Barcelona is worried about the health of defender Jules Kounde and forward Memphis Depay after they both got hurt on Thursday night while playing for their national teams.

Jules Kounde hurt his thigh when France beat Austria 2-0 in the Nations League, and Memphis Depay did the same thing when the Netherlands beat Poland 2-0 in the Nations League.

If Kounde is ready, he will start the Clasico on October 16 between Barcelona and La Liga leaders Real Madrid. This is one of many games in the U.S. and Europe before the World Cup.

Since joining Xavi’s team from Sevilla in the summer, the French defender has switched between playing right back and center back. He has quickly become a regular starter.

Depay has been more of a bench player, but he did score against Elche in the final match before the International Break.

“It’s a shame that Memphis had to go off with this injury. It doesn’t bode well,” said coach Louis van Gaal. “I don’t see him playing against Belgium.”

Frenkie de Jong, another Dutch Barcelona player, left the game against Poland in Warsaw with a minor injury but should be fine.

“(He) was taken off out of precaution. I removed him because he was experiencing muscle tension,” continued Van Gaal. However, he informed me that he anticipates playing against Belgium.
