Paolo Bargiggi, an Italian expert on the transfer market, claims that French champions Paris Saint-Germain are not giving up on signing Nigerian international Victor Osimhen and will initiate negotiations with Napoli for the striker.
It is thought that PSG have initiated negotiations to recruit Osimhen in an effort to improve their attack.
The French champions are now deep in negotiations with Napoli over a move that will send goalkeeper Keylor Navas to Naples and midfielder Fabian Ruiz to Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Bargiggi (via Solo Parisiens), Ruiz is not the only Napoli talent that PSG is interested in; the Ligue 1 champions are also interested in Osimhen.
“During Giuntoli’s recent trip to Paris, the names of Fabián Ruiz and Keylor Navas were not the only subjects of conversation. They also discussed Nigerian attacker Victor Osimhen, who is highly rated by both Galtier and Campos, who previously coached him at Lille. The French club has an option for the upcoming season, according to the website.
“The profile of Napoli’s No. 9 could be intriguing, particularly as he played in Ligue 1 with Lille in 2019/20.” (15 goals in 32 games). Despite multiple injuries, the striker scored 28 goals in 56 games for the Italian club between 2020 and 2022. “
Luis Campos, transfer director at PSG, and Christophe Galtier, the club manager, are huge fans of Osimhen, having worked with him at Lille.
Campos recruited Osimhen to France from Sporting Charleroi, and under Galtier’s tutelage, the Nigerian star scored 15 goals in 32 appearances for LOSC in his only season in France.
Napoli kicked off the 2022/23 Serie A season with a commanding 5-2 victory at Verona on Monday, with Osimhen scoring one goal and assisting on another.
