Three killed and several injured in a weekend terrorist incident in Katsina

Surajo Salisu and Musa Hassan were reportedly killed by gunmen suspected of being terrorists who assaulted the Gurbin Maganiya hamlet in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State late Saturday night.
According to local sources, three others, identified as Mustapha Salisu, Basiru Abubakar, and Muhamad Rabi’u, were also wounded by the shooters.

It was learned that the gunmen rode motorcycles into the community shortly after 10:00 p.m. and immediately began ransacking homes.

According to reports, the Nigerian Army and local vigilantes were dispatched to the community in response to a distress call about the incident.

Gambo Isah, the spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, has not responded to the incident’s investigation at the time this report was filed.

Ahmad Katsina, the Special Security Advisor to Governor Aminu Masari, could not be reached for comment.

Residents confirmed, however, that the bodies of the three deceased victims had been buried in accordance with Islamic rituals, while the injured were being treated at a hospital in Jibia.

It was also discovered that a unified security squad was already conducting neighborhood patrols.
