The First Lady of Gombe supports eye care for 3,000 beneficiaries

Over 3,000 Gombe residents are currently receiving free eye therapy as part of the ongoing cataract surgery programs.

The Gombe State First Lady organized the services in partnership with Qatar Charity and Future Leaders Foundation.

Asma’u Yahaya, the Governor’s wife, stated on Saturday that the project became necessary due to the state’s citizens’ diverse eye difficulties.

She expressed concern about the rise in the number of eye-related disorders and urged residents to take advantage of the opportunity.

Yahaya said, “There is a need for people to avail themselves of this opportunity to improve their health conditions.

“2000 patients will receive treatment, medication of various eye ailments 800 prescription eyeglasses will be distributed to those in need, and more than 300 cataract sufferers will have surgery.”

According to the governor’s wife, the one-week medical outreach slated from March 24th to March 30th 2022 will include patient screening exercises at the three general hospitals.

In June 2021, the First Lady’s organization, in collaboration with Qatar Charity and Future Leaders Foundation, conducted a similar activity, benefiting nearly 2,000 people.
