After 28 years since the last Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo passed away, the town has been without a king.

The Stagnancy was put to an end today on the 23rd of February 2022 Wednesday, when a new king was installed. The Governor of Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun presented staff of office to the newly crowned Orimolusi, Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo.

The Governor who who was full of joy went through the memory lane of how the traditional title transformed to Orimolusi said the ancient town which witnessed a 28-year interregnum, would begin to witness upward swing with the installation of the new Orimolusi.

While describing the event as “symbolic testament reflective of the time past and a new beginning in community spirit and selflessness”, the governor expressed optimism that the monarch, with his pedigree, would espouse development of the town.

Governor Dapo Abiodun also praised the efforts of Prof. Ademola Adedeji-led 11-member kingmakers/warrant chiefs, for carrying out a process that was open, transparent and credible, expressing assurance that the monarch would be guided by the laudable and enviable legacy of honour of all his predecessors.

Meanwhile, the Senator representing Ogun East at the National Assembly, Senator Lekan Mustapha, presented an SUV Benz to the new Monarch.
