Chris Brown Charts His Third No. 1 Album With ‘Indigo’

R&B and pop singer-songwriter Chris Brown is back at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, a position he’s been in before on more than one occasion. The race for the top spot this week didn’t end up being a tough one, despite a handful of new releases that find their way into the top 10 on the all-encompassing tally.

Brown’s new album Indigo kicks off its run on the Billboard 200 in first place thanks to 108,000 equivalent units, with 28,000 of those being sales. Streaming made up most of the rest of the units shifted, which was aided by the fact that the standard edition features 29 songs, while the deluxe version has 32.

Indigo is Brown’s third No. 1 and his first in seven years. He first reached the top spot with 2011’s F.A.M.E., and he repeated the feat the following year with Fortune.

In addition to his trio of chart-toppers, the musician has snagged an additional seven top 10 titles, comprising his entire discography. He first reached the region with his self-titled debut in 2005 (it peaked at No. 2), and he followed that up with 2007’s Exclusive (No. 4), 2009’s Graffiti (No. 7), the aforementioned F.A.M.E. and Fortune, 2014’s X (No. 2), 2015’s Royalty (No. 3) and 2017’s Heartbreak on a Full Moon (No. 3). He and fellow musician Tyga also collaborated on a complete album called Fan of a Fan: The Album, which rose to No. 7 in 2015.
