A Definite Cruise Episode Two

She approached David and slapped him.
His face turned red as his mouth dropped wide open. “You slapped me?”

She ignored him and left the restaurant.

When she got home, she dropped her hand bag in the couch and went to the bathroom to take a bath. While she took her bath, old memories overwhelmed her mind. She recalled that she had sat in the bathtub and cried for several minutes, seven years ago.

Then, Veronica picked her mobile phone and sent a message to her friend. “Ayomide we need to talk. I’m confused. Pls come right now.”

After some minutes, a knock sounded on her door. “Hey girlfriend. Am in front of your apartment, would you open the door?”

“I will be there now.” Veronica jumped out of the bathtub. She dressed up, strolled across the sitting room, and opened the door. “Hello darling I’ve missed you.”

“Me too.” Ayomide whispered.

“Please take a seat.”

“Thank you. Are you okay? You look worried. Am really sorry, I wasn’t so sure about Jacob, but you gave yourself completely to him and I couldn’t stop you.”

Tears dropped from Veronica’s eyes. “I just didn’t want to believe that he was all a lie. I wanted part of him to be true. I loved him so much.”

Ayomide moved closer to her. “itz okay darling. Am here for you, did you say loved?”

“Yes. All I can think of right now is how much I hate him I really can’t stand him, all those years, it was all built on lies. I wonder if anything he said was true because I found out his name is Kunle and not Jacob.”

“What! So his name wasn’t real, what did he ever say that was true? Don’t worry am here for you.”

Before Ayomide left Veronica’s house, she vowed to keep in touch often. Ayomide visited her friend daily and took care of Veronica. Ayomide was there for her friend.

After two months, Veronica became ill. Ayomide took her to the hospital for medical attention, but they were stunned by the medical test result. Veronica was three months pregnant.

“Um Ayo, this was supposed to be good news, now i’m not even excited that I have a child growing inside me.”

“Buh what are we going to do about the pregnancy?” Ayomide mumbled.

“What do you mean what are we going to do?”

“Am thinking abortion is the only solution.”

“Abortion?”

“Yes abortion or are you planning to keep that liars child?”

“The child is also mine, I hope you know that. I wish I could flush out everything that links the child to him but I can’t, I’m keeping this baby and nothing is changing that.”

“Am sure, you don’t mean it right, you’re keeping this baby? You can’t be serious.”

“I’m dead serious.” I’m keeping this child, he might be the father but this baby is also mine and I’m going to raise it on my own. Please support me, will you?”

“You know I will support you on anything. If that is what you want it’s fine by me. Am going to have a boy or girl to play with soon. When do we start shopping for the baby?”

“Not so soon. First I need to register for antenatal. Ok, so can we go home now?”

“Of course your highness. No problem.”

When they got home, they discussed about living together. Then, Ayomide agreed to move in to Veronica’s house. Life was fun for the two friends, and the baby was healthy. On her way to the shop, Veronica stumbled on…..
