Manchester United have been revealed to be closing up on their first winter signing after Benfica President flew into England to discuss Victor Lindelof’s transfer to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils were said to be considering a deal for the 22-year-old has it appears a deal could be sorted out in the coming days after reports in O Jogo claim that Benfica President Luis Filipe Vieira is presently in England for talks regarding a transfer for the Swedish international.
Lindelof has attracted interest from a host of European clubs but it is believed United has an edge in the transfer.
However, the stumbling block in the deal might be the £42m deal asking price set by Benfica, who also wants £37m upfront from the sale of the defender.
Jose Mourinho is keen to bring in defensive reinforcements in January transfer window with Eric Bailly set to represent Cote d’ivoire at the Africa Cup of Nations next month.
