Mourinho Reveals Why Carrick Cannot Play Every Game For United

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed Michael Carrick cannot be picked in every game due to his age.

The 35-year-old midfielder has made only five starts in the current league campaign. With the likes of Paul Pogba, Ander herrera and Marouane Fellaini deployed in the central midfield position by Mourinho.

Carrick was in impressive form, partnering Pogba and Fellaini as the Red Devils beat Swansea at the Liberty stadium, and a delighted Mourinho has constantly said he is unable to play the Englishman due to his age.

‘I would love to play him every game but that is not possible,’ said the United boss.

‘Why? For the same reason that I cannot go to the gym every day any more.

‘He started today and he played very, very well.’

However, Mourinho has chosen to play another 35-year-old in Ibrahimovic who has started almost all of Manchester United games this season, and has continually impressed scoring a brace in their 3-1 win over the Swans to end a barren spell in the Premier League.
