Hair Extensions: Easy Steps To Do It Yourself

Want to learn how to sew weave extensions? You can create any weave hairstyle at home yourself with the right knowledge, a few supplies, a little time and a lot of patience.

Let’s look at the step by step instructions for creating a full or partial sewn in weave from start to finish. What you need to know first:

The first in learning how to sew weave is creating a foundation to attach the extensions to. Then you sew the surface of the hair extensions onto the base of the hair to create length, texture and style. Know how you want the finished style to fall before you start the part.

Questions like – Do you want a part? Will you be wearing your hair up? Do you want to be able to wear your hair in different styles? All of this will help you decide how to section the hair.

Tools: human hair extensions, curved hair sewing needle, hair sewing thread, tail comb, hair clips, scissors and weaving cream.

Step 1: Shampoo your hair, condition and blow dry your hair.

Step 2: Plait the hairstyle you want and make parts showing where the braided base will go. Separate and pin up any hair that will stay out of the weave like the edges, crown of the head, nape of the neck and the front base.

Step 3: Use a small amount of extension hair as reinforcement and weave the hair in either a continuous plait braid or part horizontal sections. Make the weaving as flat and narrow as possible.

Step 4: Use the needle and thread to sew the ends of the weaving along the bottom of the hair. Use enough thread so an entire track can be sewn with one length.

Step 5: Starting from the back of the head, sew rows of extension hair onto each weaving. Start from the very edge of the hair and keep the track as flat as possible.

Step 6: Go to the same spot a few times with the needle and thread when you start the track to secure it properly. Do the same thing when you get to the other end of the weaving.

Step 7: Cut the track once you have secured the end to the hair. This helps to get the measurements exactly right
