Buhari Orders Immediate Arrest Of Officers Stealing From IDPs

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Inspector General of police, Idris Ibrahim to arrest of government officials who specialise in stealing food aids meant for the Internally Displaced People (IDP).

This was revealed by the President’s spokesman Garba Shehu on Friday.

It would be recalled that the Senate had recently launched an investigation into allegations of food aid being stolen and sold by state officials in Borno State, where aid agencies have warned of starvation, malnutrition and dwindling food supplies for the displaced.

The public outcry was sparked in April when photos posted on social media appeared to show food aid on sale in shops. The items had logos of aid agencies, leading many to believe they had been diverted by state officials in camps for the displaced.

Hundreds of aggrieved Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Maiduguri have barricaded the city’s main entry point, causing a gridlock along the Kano Maiduguri highway according to.

The IDPs were protesting against hunger and thirst in their respective camps
