Antonio Conte Offers Transfer Update As Deadline Day Beckons

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has insisted the club is working hard to secure more signings as the deadline day beckons.

Conte who was delighted as his side won 3-1 against an under-performing Burnley reiterated his desire to bring in more signings to the Stamford Bridge before the end of the summer window.

The former Italian National team coach said: “We are working close together, the club and I, and we are trying to find the right solutions to improve this squad,” the Italian said after today’s 3-0 win over Burnley.

“We have four days to find this, but I am pleased to work with the squad I have. It was a good game and performance and we played good football with good possession.

“We created a lot of chances and kept a clean sheet – this is important because after 13 home games without a clean sheet this helps the confidence and shows the hard work is paying off.

“We have started very well this season but we must know we can improve.”

Commenting about his team’s performance, he said: “Diego Costa was very unlucky today because he had many chances to score, but in the last two games he scored important goals.’

‘To start the season with three wins and a win in the cup is good. When you start in this way you can work better. It was very important that we didn’t concede a goal, it was good for the players and the fans.

‘I’m pleased with the performance and the win, we played well with good possession and created many chances.

It’s a pity that now we have the break because after three wins I want to continue to play games.’

Chelsea are reportedly looking at the prospects of signing a central defender before the transfer deadline day with reports of a bid for Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso.
