Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has challenged Adams Oshiomhole, Edo state governor over the alleged high cost of contracts executed by his regime.
While speaking at Ogbona in Etsako Central local government of the state yesterday, Iyamu asked Oshiomhole to publish the cost of projects executed since he assumed office on November 12, 2008.
He said: “In Edo State, today, the cost of projects is not known. The corruption in Edo State is unbelievable. I challenge the governor to publish the cost of every project he claims he has executed since he took office as governor.
“Even the university in his village, he built a 168-room hostel at a cost of N1.8billion, which means to build a room in the hostel cost N10-million. How can you build a three classroom block for N87million? They said Imaguero College, which is not a new school; they changed the roof, put tiles on the floor and painted the walls for N800million.
“For Edo people to appreciate the gift you are giving them, you must tell them the cost. It is not enough to say that is the road I did, that information can only be appreciated if you tell us the cost. Edo state government under Oshiomhole is very good in wealth consumption and knows little or nothing about wealth creation. That is the tragedy of the government in Edo State”.
Iyamu also commented on the refusal of the state government to disclose the cost of reconstructing the Airport Road in the state capital, which was not a new road at the time of its reconstruction. He insisted that the APC is all about promises and deceit, adding that as a pastor, he will keep his covenant with Edo people as contained in his Simple Agenda if he was elected governor.
