EXCLUSIVE: Drama As EFCC Arrests Embattled SUG President

The Students’ Union Government President, The Polytechnic Ibadan, Comrade Esho Joseph Oluwatosin, has been impeached by the union and arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of fund mismanagement.

flaashnews.com.ng gathered that the SUG president has earlier been impeached at a parliament meeting on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 by the Student Representatives Council (SRC), through its Disciplinary Committee.

Also impeached was the Treasurer, Comrade Adeniran Tolulope Comfort while four weeks suspension was given to the General Secretary, Comrade Oladejo Glory.

In a press release made available to flashnew.com.ng, the SUG President, Comrade Esho Joseph, was impeached on allegations which include: Running the Union Unilaterally; Embezzling more than N2,000,000 union’s fund; Violating Students’ Union oath of office; Insulting and stabbing one Ademarati at the Students’ Union Building through an unofficial Chief Security Officer; Organizing a program christened ‘Koseleri’ with a whooping sup of N800,000 without any benefit to the students and transferring N1, 000,000 to one Mr Mukaila’s GT bank account.

Comrade Joseph was given an ultimatum of 92 hours to refund all the money he allegedly embezzled while the SRC, in furtherance, stated that the Independence Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) or EFCC will be invited into the matter if the President fails to set matters right by refunding the money before the lapse of the ultimatum.
Following the lapse of this ultimatum, men of EFCC over the weekend stormed the school premises and arrested the president with other persons involved in the fund mismanagement.

Meanwhile, a student source disclosed to usthat an election has been conducted and Comrade Edema Peter has emerged as the new President and will be sworn in soon.
